The BCCSA provides the BCCSA Silica Control Tool Site, as a service to the construction industry in BC to assist employers in ensuring the health and safety of workers by reducing exposures to Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS) dust. It may also be used to assist in complying with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation of BC (the OHSR) relating to silica exposures and related Exposure Control Plans (ECPs).
The BCCSA Silica Control Tool Site must be used and completed by a qualified person with the requisite knowledge, expertise and experience, as defined in the OHSR, in occupational exposure assessment, control and planning.
The BCCSA has followed appropriate protocols in obtaining, extracting and presenting the information in the Tool Site, and periodically updates the information as may be needed. In providing the Tool Site the BCCSA does not in any way warrant, promise, or represent, expressly or impliedly, the nature, standard, accuracy or otherwise, of the information provided in or generated through the Tool Site, or the suitability or applicability of the information to a user's particular circumstances.
The BCCSA is not responsible for, and expressly disclaims all liability for, damages of any kind arising out of the use, reference to, or reliance on any information contained within the Tool Site, or the user’s activity on the Tool Site, including any information or documentation generated by the user from the Tool Site.
The information on this Tool Site, including any information produced from its use is in no way meant to replace professional advice relating to measuring, controlling and ensuring that workers’ exposures are within safe and legally mandated limits. The Tool Site is not a replacement for air monitoring tests where circumstances warrant such testing, and should not be construed as providing legal or other advice regarding any legal or other requirements relating to RCS dust exposures or otherwise, including in the user’s particular circumstances.
